Book Review:The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. This was such a charming book! It is written in letter format and in doing so unfolds the story of a small society of people and their tales on the island of Guernsey during the German Occupation. It sounds much heavier then it is and while there is sadness, it is more a tale of humor, loyalty, and preseverance. Great book and a couple quotes I especially enjoyed:

"Have you ever noticed that when your mind is awakened or drawn to someone new, that person's name suddenly pops up everywhere you go? My friend Sophie calls it coincidence, and Mr. Simpless, my parson friend, calls it Grace. He thinks if one cares deeply about someone or something new one throws a kind of energy out into the world, and "fruitfulness" is drawn in."

"reading good books ruins you for enjoying bad ones."
