Book Review - Living Oprah by Robyn Okrant

The full title of this book is My One-Year Experiment to Walk the Walk of the Queen of Talk, Living Oprah.

This book is okay, worth grabbing if you see at the library or a garage sale. The author basically watches Oprah everday, reads O Magazine every month, and consults Oprah's website frequently. Anything Oprah says to do she does, be it "Everyone should have these 10 things in their closet" to " You must read this book" or "No tv's in the bedroom!". I couldn't imagine running around for a year doing every command someone doles out, it sounds exhausting as does the author by December when she's almost done. What I did find interesting is the contradictions if you look at Oprah's shows as a whole. She does a lot with Suze Ormen and finance issues but then the next day, it's you need this! The author spend almost $5k follow the commands of the queen of media all year! She says she is healthier and more fit, but not sure she feels better about herself or if anything isn't more vain when she wasn't even remotely that before. I'd like to visit her website sometime and see how she feels about it now, 2 years out.
