Book Review:Dead In The Family by Charlaine Harris
(no spoilers)
This is Book 10 in the Sookie Stackhouse series, the books that True Blood on HBO is based off of. Books 1-8 I loved and read long before the tv show. Book 9 was eeh, but it seemed necessarily to tie up lose ends, so I fully expected Book 10 to be back on track. Especially with more of Eric! It was horrible! The first 3/4's were so boring, I easily asborbed it while reading, watching tv, and yelling at the kids to be quiet. I'm a little offended I paid money for this, something I rarely do for a book. I don't know if it's because the author is whinding down the series or it's the influence of it now being a tv show, but something special is gone. It was never the most intelligent read, but it was always fun and interesting and you at least cared what happen or wondered. What a let down! This was just a bunch of nothing. About the only thing I did like was where Bill's story went. Even Jason was a snore.

Oh no. :( I've been eagerly awaiting it. :( Is it at least worth the time? If not the money? I'm on the library waiting list. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteI couldn't imagine not reading it if you've read the whole series, but paying for it, definitely not. I did sell it for $7 on half.com and paid $10, so not to to bad.
